While still a student, from around 2013, she started participating in exhibitions, mostly showing smaller works on paper.

“Die kleinformatigen Arbeiten auf Papier bilden den Ursprung für meine Malereien auf Leinwand. Seit 2015 sind sie Teil meines künstlerischen Schaffens und entstehen — so wie auch viele meiner anderen Arbeiten — in Serien und in Werkzyklen, immer im Format 35 x 25 cm.”

The visual vocabulary of these works is largely inspired by organic forms such as climbing plants and stencil-like shapes that evoke plants, clouds, round and oval forms as well as worm-like creatures realised in extremely reduced colours, black and white with shades of grey in her compositions.

Elisa Alberti said, on the topic, that the world of organic things was the starting point for her art at the time. Concrete depictions of plants never really interested her but, in contrast, she found the open nature of abstraction much more exciting. So, she began juxtaposing rounded, arched and leaf-shaped forms with rounded, geometrical compositions.

Elisa Alberti is an Italian painter who lives and works in Vienna. In her artistic work she moves between painting and drawing and connects elements of both media.
Within this field, she spread color, shapes and lines on paper, wood or canvas.
Her works are characterised by an abstract formal language, which is based on objects of everyday life, inspired by the plant world and the urban environment. In her compositions, colours are used in a rather reduced way or limited to a few shades, wich are chromatically extended by gradations and nuances.
